Car Ferry service
The journey from Glasgow to the ferry terminal of Kennacraig takes approximately 3 hours.
Go over the Erskine Bridge and follow the A82 along Loch Lomond. Once at Tarbet take the A83 to Inverarary and Lochgilphead. Follow the signs for Campbeltown until you reach Kennacraig, 5 miles from Tarbert . There is no village at Kennacraig, just follow the signs for the ferry terminal.
The ferry journey takes 2 and 1/2 hours, in Summer there are three sailings per day – except Sunday and Wednesday.
This Roll on Roll Off service is operated by Caledonian MacBrayne , and must be booked in advance if bringing a car to Islay.
There are 2 ports on Islay: Port Ellen and Port Askaig.

Select Glasgow/Cambeltown route, getting off at Kennacriag Ferry terminal, leaving Glasgow at 9.00am and arriving in time for the ferry crossing at 1.00pm

The cottage is in the village of Bruichladdich, near to the Distillery, see MAP. Coming from Port Ellen, or from Islay Airport….take the A846 North towards Bowmore and on to Bridgend, at Bridgend turn left on the A847 to Bruichladdich From Port Askaig…take the A846 to Bridgend then turn right on the A847 to Bruichladdich
We strongly advise you to check plane and ferry crossings in advance as adverse weather etc can affect availability.
